Deregulation
in Brief
Historically,
consumers had relied on their supply and delivery of natural
gas from a single company known as the Local Distribution
Company (LDC). This meant that consumers had no option in
choosing their supplier.

How does energy deregulation affect you?
Deregulation
separated the supply and distribution of natural gas. This
means that you are now able to buy your natural gas at
a competitive price for a fixed term from a licensed marketer
such as Universal Gas & Electric. Your Local Distribution
Company (LDC) such as DTE/MichCon or Consumers Gas, would
still send you your bill, deliver the gas and provide 24
hour emergency service. The only difference you will notice
is that Universal Gas & Electric, our name, will appear
on your bill as your gas supplier.
